Question End Play How Too

Hey Guy

Sorry about that empty double posting on END PLAY ~ I hit the wrong buttom

Need to learn use my magnetic dial indicator.
I need to check for END PLAY on my front wheel.

I know this that I attach the indicator to my front brake rotor.

WHAT I DON'T KNOW ( And that's a LOT )

1. Where do I place the POINTER
2. Do I let the front wheel on the bike
3. I guess I put the AXLE thru the wheel
4. Do I TORQUE it up
5. Just how and what do I hold on to when checking for END PLAY

If you can posts pics that would be GREAT if not that's O.K. 2

Thanks for putting-up with this Newbie

I never have checked on a bike but on cars and other things have used a dial indicator to check end play.
First I would mount wheel up all the way.You said you had a magnectic base so put that on the rotor.
Put pointer of indicator on the fork tube.
push or pull wheel all the way to one side, zero indicator needlethen push the wheel in opposit direction and read how many thousants the indicator shows.
