Default Bleeding Brakes with a MityVac?

I have been bleeding brakes for years so I understand quite well how it works but I am trying to bleed the brakes on my EG with a MityVac and I will be darned if I simply cannot get it to bleed.

The MityVac seems to work just fine but everytime I use it like I did today on my EG, I get the hose on the bleeder good and tight so it doesn't leak and I can get a steady stream of bubbles out of the bleeder.

I open the bleeder just enough for fluid to flow. The bleeder must be sucking air in around the threads of the bleeder then out through the plastic tube. This has happened just about everytime I have used it. I really hesitate to put thread compound on the threads of the bleeder. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've never been a big fan of the MityVac's...in fact I think I broke mine with a hammer one time.

It worked about the same afterwards.

Teflon tape around the threads is a quick and simple cure for that.
