Default Should I buy a Harley FI bike?

Is Harley FI any good? I am considering upgrading to a newer bike but I've read mixed reviews on the FI system. Some love it while some hate it. Any thoughts?

Just don't want to make a mistake I will regret.

I've had both and while carbs are simple...so is EFI once you figure it out.

I'd go EFI and not even hesitate.

FI is the only way to fly in my opinion. Carbs are great but FI offers a number of advantages over carbs including driveability and tuneability. They are really simple to work once you know a couple of things but quite frankly, you rarely need to touch it, that's why I love it.

From what I've read you either love or hate FI....me personally I've had carb'd bikes for years and now that I have a fuel injected bike it's no comparison. I prefer a fuel injected Harley but opinions vary of course.

Carb'd bike all the way....call me old school but let's see one of you feckers rebuild your FI control module on the side of the road on vacation!

If a carb fails at least you may still be able to get home depending on how bad the failure was. If FI pops then it's usually go or no go from my experience.

The wheels of progress can't be stopped. If we hang onto the past because it's comfortable then we'd still be riding horses.

I vote for FI.

It really does not make much difference whether you feel comfortable with fuel injection or not if you want a new bike, because you can not buy a new Harley with carbs on it anymore. Fuel injection is one of the greatest inventions of this century when it comes to the internal combustion engine. Carbs are old technology. FI is new technology. New technology, by design has improvements which benefit the cause. Go with it and embrace it. If not, you will be left behind to ride with the horse and mule crowd. Please don't tell me you are still kick starting your ride. Be safe.

You are a wise man! There's no sense fighting progress....I never understand why people try to hang onto yesterday's news so bad....I guess fear of change or something really deep like that.

I've owned older bikes with carbs and a few newer bikes with FI. In my opinion, unless you enjoy tinkering with your bike to keep it running smooth I'd go with the FI. And 96349 has a good point, a new Harley= a FI Harley.

Just about every newer Bike has F.I. The new systems are verry good. The motor cycle world should have been learning what was happening in the Auto industrie in the 80, and started R&D then that way the systems today would be equal to the systems on the autos, Used to hear some of the same commets about electronic ignition vs points in the 80s. I say embrace it learn as mutch as you can about it and ride it. I say get F.I. JMO
