Default Best CAM SE204 or SE211?

Looking to get a bit more power without compromising rideability and reliability.

My local dealer says they have been putting 211 cams in TC 88 and guarantees me it’s the biggest bang for the buck. I believe him, but the SE catalogue recommends the 211 for 103 c.i and bigger.

My local dealer tells me to ignore that, he said with 211 and the custom tune they will do with the dyno and using a SE race tuner that I should go from about 72 ft lbs of torque at the wheel to 89. Without any wear and tear issues. I already have the stage I intake and V&H slip ons

They guarantee the install but I am still curious if any one else has gone this road. I do not want to spend to much $ on this bike because, in a few years I hope to get a SE Touring bike.

This one is a 06 RK 5 speed. It handle great and has started first time every time and never sputtered even once, it has ran great, but lacking a bit in power. Of course it did not feel that way when I first bought it but after a couple years of it does, ha ha, go figure.

Based on forums I have read its hard to tell if the bottom end loses torque or not.

Anyway any insight on a 211 cam possibly over caming the TC 88 is welcome.

I have never used either of them personally but I have talked with a lot of folks that have and if you are putting this in an otherwise stock engine then you really want to stay with an HD cam that has the characteristics needed for a bagger.

A bagger needs torque below 3000 rpm and preferably right off idle, go with the 203. Looking at the spec sheets on either the 204 and 211 it would seem they would need a bit more compression to really get the maximum out of them.

Me personally, I would look for another source of cams that have awesome reputations. Check out Headquarters HQ 0034 cam. It's very popular and HQ has a superb reputation. They will even make a recommendation for you based on your build.

You are typically better off to go a bit more conservative as opposed to on the aggressive side when it comes to cams in a street driven, pump gas motorcycle.
