Default 2 into 1 Exhaust Question

I have always read that 2 into 1 pipes are better for performance. I have a Stage 1 FXST with SE slip on mufflers. What would I gain from upgrading to a 2 into 1 exhaust? Is it worth the expense?

What do they sound like...I don't remember paying attention to any recently enough to remember if they sound good.

I have the D&D Fat Cats on my 2007 Night Train. I've also run the Rinehart 2 into 1 pipe on it too and both of the pipes had similar characteristics. The low and mid-range torque was noticeably better with the 2 into 1 pipe, not pulling wheelies kind of torque but you could tell the difference.

The exhaust note of a 2 into 1 pipe is also deeper and a bit quieter than the 2 into 2 pipes that I've run. Noise is pretty subjective but I am a bit of a pipe-a-holic so I've run a bunch of them and have compared the differences between them all.
