Oy....I almost forgot how much fun it was to be out in the open. Any motorcycle is pretty free wheeling but I rode a friend of mine's Fat Boy and he took his turn on my Electra Glide.....while we both wanted our own bikes back when we were done, I must admit...I liked it.
While I love riding with a windshield, I must say nothing feels quite the same as when I ride my bike without it attached. I think if I had a radio tho, then maybe I would change my mind? :-)
I feel ya birdman....I was off my bike for an extended period of time due to an injury. I missed it...not much better therapy exists than a 110 hp V-twin with a loud pipe.
I just upgraded to a Steet Glide from a Dyna with no windshield. I have to say I get what you are saying, but when you are bombing down the interstate at 80mph then the windshield is awesome!
I've owned a few bikes in my life and all of them have had windshields. My new Nightster has no windshield and the first time I took it out on the freeway I was shocked at how much of difference they make. Frank817 makes a good point, when you're cruising down the highway at 80+mph, it can be pretty taxing on the arms and neck. I'm thinking about buying a removable windshield for those long rides down the coast highway.
I agree ridding without windshield is mutch differant. Rode 2 years ago with out a shield but after 60mph started getting helmet lift I had not ridden without a sheild for a long time and did not remember haveing that problem before but realised the last bike I had without a shield was before the helmet law went into effect and I didnt wear one then. Man that seemed so mutch more free.
In my youth, no shield, no helmet. Now, I want it all..Radio, CB, intercom, shield, full face Shoei Multitec, boots, tourmaster jacket, gloves. and, fairly quiet rumble with stock Ultra.
At different points in my life, all my bikes were exactly what I wanted at the time. It's all good.Everyone should have their own ride, the way they want it and wear what they wish to wear.
